One of the biggest classical music festivals in Switzerland, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival has delighted audiences with unique music performances since 1957. Its leitmotif is ‘making music with friends’. The world-renowned festival was founded by Yehudi Menuhin, one of the greatest violin virtuosos of the 20th century, who made it what it is today: a wonderful tradition. Developing the festival further, Director Christoph Müller subsequently combined tradition with innovation, stars with young talents and chamber music with symphony concerts, successfully taking the festival into the 21st century.

12th July to the 31st August 2024 - Thematic focus Transformation
The climatic and social changes bring great challenges. Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy is aware of its responsibility and since the beginning of 2022 the total CO2 emissions of the organizer have been measured in cooperation with the foundation myclimate. In the firm conviction of once again creating something unique in Gstaad that everyone involved can already look forward to, the next three festival editions will be themed "Change". They will each focus on a related theme: "Humility" in 2023 (with the three aspects of nature, role models and faith, represented first and foremost by works of Johann Sebastian Bach); "Transformation" will follow in 2024 (with the great historical, social, technological and spiritual changes of contemporary history) and finally the festival in 2025 will deal with the concept of "Migration" (music and exile). All these thematic focuses will be accompanied by innovative projects from the laboratory of violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, ambassador of the "Music for the Planet" cycle. The cycle includes three to four original programs each summer, based on expressive messages about the state of nature, humanity and society. The concerts combine different genres and styles to draw attention to the state of the world and create an overall artistic experience that is distinctly different from conventional classical concert formats.
